When waste becomes a work of art—street artist Bisk turns Paris garbage into upbeat installations

One man’s garbage is one other man’s canvas, because the saying goes (apparently). That is actually the case with the French road artist Bisk who is popping the mounds of waste on Paris’s streets—piled up within the wake of pension reform protests—into quirky artwork creations by including graffitied eyes and polystyrene smiles. “Individuals come by all severe, then see a monster’s face or somewhat man, they usually go away with a smile. Individuals have thanked me for puncturing the temper,” Bisk informed The Occasions of India. Le Monde describes how these “monsters”—as Bisk calls them—takes form, saying: “Amazon’s brand serves as an ironic eyebrow, two symmetrical rubbish cans as a moustache, and a cardboard field taped in black [becomes] a scar.” The arty detritus—posted on the artist’s Instagram feed—is actually making Parisians snigger amongst the upheaval. “Preserve beautifying these piles of filth,” says a contributor whereas one other provides that the heaps of rotting particles “have irresistible faces”.
